Carlos, director of hospice services at Sound Hospice in Olympia, began his career as an occupational therapist (OT) but felt a calling to work in hospice. He was unsure when he saw Providence was looking for an occupational therapist for its hospice program but realized he and the organization were a great fit. He tells palliative care physician, Gregg VandeKieft, M.D., that the OT role adds function to mobility allowing hospice patients to perform self-care and ensure dignity. Edit credit: Alison Jacques
