Calm in the storm

While in a meeting outside the hospital, Beth got word of an active shooter at her children’s high school. Her son was home sick that day; her daughter texted letting her know she was safe. As director of communications for Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash., Beth knew emergency procedures and leapt into action to ensure the hospital was ready for what was likely coming their way.
