Embracing the End

Chaplain Kevin Deegan and retired psychiatrist Dr. Roland Summit talked about Dr. Summit's wife, Jo, who had dementia and wanted a dignified end to her life. Dr. Summit shared Jo's struggle with dementia, her hip surgery after a fall, and her strong wish to avoid living with the disease. They found comfort with Dr. Komatsu, who used palliative sedation to help Jo pass away peacefully.
