Jessica tells colleague Dana about what led her to become a gender-specialized nurse practitioner. Jessica’s youngest child had confided why they always felt depressed. It’s because she was a boy. Jessica became an advocate and an activist for transgender issues. Realizing medical professionals weren’t treating the transgender community with compassion, Jessica went back to school to get her nurse practitioner license so she could be their compassionate caregiver.
